Functional Orthonomy and Integration

Functional Orthonomy and Integration, or FOI, is a holistic manual therapy concept to treat different types of pain in the body. Where useful, I integrate elements of FOI in craniosacral treatment sessions to achieve the best possible result.

All of the joints in our body are in correlation. If one joint does not work correctly, this will have an affect on all other joints. This can cause pain, often somewhere completely different to the affected or triggering area. For example, a problem in the knee can cause pain in the shoulder. The body compensates for disorders in the body with this pain. The compensation mechanisms usually follow a clear pattern, which is used as the basis for treatment. Functional Orthonomy and Integration involves the entire body. The treatment aims to find the functional limitation causing the pain and relieve it using manual therapy. During treatment, I adjust the position of the bones to each other, the three-dimensional movement of the joints and the tension in the muscles. Treatment usually begins on the spine and pelvis and includes elements from craniosacral therapy.
